Preliminary Task - Zine Magazine

For my preliminary task I am required to create the front cover and contents page of Woking college magazine called 'Zine'. This includes making a hand-drawn version of my Zine front cover and contents page, with annotations to justify decisions which are based on the research i found from looking at previous college magazines. Also a mind map is to be made showing all my initial ideas that I could use on my front cover and contents page. When actually constructing the front page and contents page I am required to use Photoshop and along the way, print screening images of how I have edited and transformed images which I have taken myself to track my progress. After completing the draft pages and final magazine pages, I then have to write an evaluation. This will evaluate the progress I have made and the considerations taken in order to reach my target audience (students). In the evaluation I also need to talk about the challenges I faced and any problems I have had to overcome which will help me prepare for my main task which will be creating the front cover and contents page of a magazine i create and construct.

Brief

Brief

For the preliminary task we firstly have to create a spider diagram of our ideas, then we have to complete out hand drawn drafts and then we will construct the magazine. Then I will need to write how I achieved my front cover and contents page, the fonts and images I will be using, a small PowerPoint presentation and then an evaluation.

For the main coursework I have to complete research and planning where I will have to analyse three magazine covers, contents pages and articles. Then I will need to create a questionnaire about my music magazine and compare the results. Then I will need to create my hand drawn drafts, construct my magazine, show all my original images that I will be using and finally create an evaluation. I will have to do two evaluations, one typed and one as a PowerPoint presentation.
